Cher is 60!

60 years ago today Cherilyn Sarkisian, known worldwide simply as Cher, was born. She has been an entertainment icon for over 40 years. Cher was only 19 in 1965 when she hit #1 on the pop singles chart with "I Got You Babe" as half of Sonny and Cher. Since then she has been part of 19 more chart singles with Sonny and 35 as a solo artist. Last year she completed one of the most phenomenally successful farewell tours in the history of pop music. It lasted 3 years and included 325 shows. One might expect that at the age of 60 Cher would be considering retirement. However, that is far from the case. Her farewell tour was intended as only a farewell from tours. Currently, Cher has been signed to a recording contract by Warner Bros. and is reportedly working with producer John Kalodner who has worked with a wide range of classic rock acts. In addition, she has signed a contract with Caesar's Palace Las Vegas to replace Celine Dion as the resident concert act in 2008. As a special celebration of Cher's birthday, here are her 10 biggest pop hit singles as a solo artis with peak position and year listedt: Believe - #1 1999 (Listen) Half Breed - #1 1973 (Listen) Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves - #1 1971 (Listen) Dark Lady - #1 1974 (Listen) Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) - #2 1966 (Listen) If I Could Turn Back Time - #3 1989 (Listen) After All (w/ Peter Cetera) - #6 1989 (Listen) The Way of Love - #7 1972 (Listen) Take Me Home - #8 1979 (Listen) Just Like Jesse James - #8 1989 (Listen)
